Mystery Readers

We are very lucky to have so many wonderful mystery readers in our classroom!  All of the pictures are below.  Please enjoy, the kids have enjoyed it!

Friday
We had a wonderful day of Mystery Readers today.  Today we have "Reading With the Stars" in the library set up by Mrs. McKinzie.

Our first mystery reader was Ms. Loretta.  She read Click, Clack, Peep.  The kids enjoyed the book, but I think were more excited to see Ms. Loretta again, I think they have missed her!
 



Our second mystery reader was Mr. Jake.  He is an A+ tutor from RBHS.  He read Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus.


 

 Our next mystery reader was one of the "Reading with the Stars."  It was Gunnery Sergeant Richards.  He is currently serving in the Marines.  He read  Don't Forget, God Bless Our Troops.


Our next mystery reader was in the library also and was part of "Reading with the Stars."  It was the Columbia Public Schools Superintendent, Dr. Steipleman.  He read Somewhere Today and The Beggar's Magic.  He also taught the kids a song called "We Are One."






Our next mystery readers were two MU basketball players.  The kids loved having them in our room.  They read Plantzilla Goes to Camp and The Adventures of Beekle.








Our next mystery reader was RBE's own Ms. Angela.  She read Ivan: The Remarkable True Story of the Shopping Mall Gorilla.  




 Our final mystery reader of the week was in the library for "Reading with the Stars."  It was KOMU's Kenton Gewecke.  He read Party of the Clouds and answered questions about weather.





Thursday

Another day of wonderful mystery readers today!  I really appreciate everyone that has been able to come in and read.  I know that schedules can be very busy and getting away can be difficult.

Our first mystery reader today was my mom.  :)  She read Dogs Vs. Cats.







Our next mystery reader was Peyton's sister, Maegan, she read It's Not Easy Being a Bunny.








Miss Kaylie is one of our tutors from MU.  She read The Ant Bully.





Nicholas's mom, Ms. Hauxwell read two books about elephants.  She read The Saggy, Baggy Elephant and "Stand Back," said the Elephant, "I'm Going to Sneeze."







Ms. Rhonda from the office came down and read to our class and Ms. Mottaz's class.  She read Gaston and we talked about how families are important to all of us.








 Caleb's grandma, Ms. Mees read to us and gave us feathers (her book was about a duck and a goose).  She read Don't Fidget a Feather.  Then we talked about how important it is to be a good friend.








Our final mystery reader for today was Kaitlyn's dad, Mr. Gabrielson.  He brought popcorn to go with his book, Interrupting Chicken.  He also read I'm Bored and The Book With No Pictures.

 







Wednesday

Our first mystery reader today was Keaton's mom, Mrs. Hall.  She read The Man Who Walked Between the Towers and brought gummy bears.  :)








Our next mystery reader was Ms. Dolan.  She is a student at MU.  She read One Cool Friend.





We had Drop Everything and Read today.  It was fun to see everyone enjoying a good book.



Our next mystery reader was Spencer's mom, Mrs. Christensen.  She read two Dr. Seuss books.  One of them is the secret book and is hidden inside another book.  It is called What Was I Scared Of and then she also read Too Many Daves.  The kids thought both books were really funny.







Isaac's mom, Mrs. Beary read Peanut Butter and Cupcake and If You Give a Cat a Cupcake.  She kindly brought in cupcakes for the class.  I can tell you if you get 2nd graders cupcakes, they will enjoy them a lot!  :)







Our final mystery reader traveled from St. Louis to read today. It was Ms. Rottjakob's mom.  :)  She read Flat Stanley and brought the kids Flat Stanley cookies.  Ms. Rottjakob's cousin sent Flat Stanley in the mail, so we took a picture with him in front of the Rock Bridge sign.








Tuesday

Our first mystery reader today was Mrs. Wood, Brody's mom.  She read Spoon and Chopsticks.



Our second reader was Ms. Wayland.  She was one of the college students that helped us first semester.  She read Julia's House for Lost Creatures.

Ms. Mattie, one of our college students from first semester, came back to day and read Little Elliot, Big Family.


 We were lucky to have Ms. Benson come read to us today.  She read Under the Same Sun.



 Jack's mom, Ms. Stubbs, brought 3 books to read to the class.  She read Love You Always,  The Gruffalo and Howard B. Wigglebottom Learns to Listen.

 The kids sang along to the song in Love You Always.



 We were lucky to have 2 authors read their books today.  The first author was Ms. Gieseke.  She is the author of Hoop and Holler.




 Our second author for the day was Mikel's aunt, Ms. Spry.  She read her book, Tom T's Hat Rack and she donated a copy to our classroom.  She read the first 4 chapters and we will finish the book as our next read aloud.






Monday

Our first mystery reader was Mason's dad, Mr. Eskridge.  He read Bones and brought in bones for the kids to look at.





 Our second mystery reader today was Logan's grandma, Ms. Cronhardt.  She read You Are Special.




 Our third mystery reader was Dr. Link.  He read Where the Wild Things Are




Our fourth mystery reader was Kenzie's mom, Mrs. Von Talge.  She read Happiness is a Warm Blanket, Charlie Brown.



 Our fifth mystery reader was Peyton's mom, Ms. Wilkinson.  She read Star Wars and the kids read the dialogue.




 Our final mystery reader of the day was Mrs. McKinzie.  She read I Want My Hat Back.
