Wow! 102nd Day of School! The students have worked so hard and grown so much in the 102 days they have been in 2nd grade. I can't wait to see them continue to grow the rest of the school year!
102nd Day of 2nd Grade
We had fun today celebrating both the 102nd Day in 2nd Grade and Groundhog's Day. Check out the pictures here. The students came up with as many ways to represent 102 as possible. They created number sentences as well as pictures. It was very impressive all the ways they created. Ask your student some of the ways they created 102. They also worked in pairs to try to come up with 102 words related to school. We used the words to create a Word Cloud about school.
Groundhogs Day
We also had fun celebrating Groundhogs Day today. We read some books about groundhogs and then they wrote about what a ground does on its day off. They are hanging in the hallway, if you're at school, check them out!
Conference Times
Conference times will be in your student's Friday folder tomorrow. Please make sure to check the time and send back the confirmation sheet. I will also write the conference time in your student's Friday folder next week.
Pizza Party
Alice's family will be bringing in pizza to celebrate her birthday tomorrow, so your student won't need to bring in a lunch. They will each get 2 slices of pizza, if they would like to bring in chips or fruit/veggies to go with their pizza, they may do so. Also, if they would like to bring a drink from home, they may. Please only plastic container or cans (no glass) and no larger than 20 ounces. If they choose not to bring in a drink, we will have cups for water. Students will still need to bring in a snack for snack time if they want a snack.
Valentine's Day Party
We have our Valentine's Party on Tuesday, February 14. If your student would like to make a Valentine's box at home, they may do so and bring it in for the party. We will be creating envelopes at school to use as well. Please just fill out the From spot on the Valentines, if you choose to send them in. This makes it much easier for the students when passing them out. We have 18 students in our class this year. Jeanne Link has set up a Sign Up Genius for the party and the information is below.
